Investing in Local Talent, Workforce, and Opportunity: Meet the 2025 Green Door Fund Grantees

The Greater Fayette Community Foundation is proud to announce the 2025 Green Door Fund for Workforce Development and Education grantees.

We’d like to highlight ten remarkable organizations working to expand education, job training, and economic opportunity across rural South Central Texas.

Each grantee represents a step forward in building a stronger, more connected workforce by addressing local challenges with community-led solutions. From youth entrepreneurship to vocational programs and career support, these initiatives reflect the power of rural innovation and the promise of prosperity for all.

La Grange Education Support Program Foundation | Service Area: Fayette County

The La Grange Education Support Program Foundation will serve 120 students by funding two new welders for the high school’s growing welding program. This program helps students gain hands-on experience, earn industry-recognized certifications, and provides students with workforce readiness skills that support both college and career pathways.

Buffalo Nation | Service Area: Bastrop, Fayette, Lee Counties

Buffalo Nation’s ‘Wired for Opportunity’ initiative will provide 50 at-risk and underserved teens in Bastrop, Fayette, and Lee counties with access to a supervised, tech-enabled workspace. This workspace is equipped with computers, internet, and mentorship. This initiative helps students overcome digital barriers and pursue education, employment, and long-term stability.

Hesed House | Service Area: Wharton County

Hesed House of Wharton’s Adult Education Program will serve 100 community members by providing GED preparation, wraparound support, and onsite testing. This program helps adults increase employment opportunities, earning potential, and long-term community resilience in Wharton County.

Colorado County Habitat for Humanity | Service Area: Colorado County

Colorado County Habitat for Humanity will serve five low-income working individuals and their families by constructing two affordable homes in 2025. These efforts will provide stable housing that supports workforce retention, youth job training, and local economic growth through subcontractor hiring and community partnerships.

Fayette County Community Theatre | Service Area: Fayette County

The Fayette County Community Theatre will expand its student programming to serve 50–60 youth by adding a second, shorter production with an additional directorial team. This program provides hands-on theatre experience that builds creative, technical, and leadership skills while opening pathways to future arts-related careers.

Round Top-Carmine Education Foundation | Service Area: Fayette County

The Round Top-Carmine Education Foundation will support 60 high school students in Fayette County by strengthening culinary and welding certification programs. These programs will provide updated equipment and materials to help students gain job-ready skills and pursue local employment opportunities after graduation.

Bugle Boy Foundation | Service Area: Fayette County

The Bugle Boy Foundation’s Sound Engineering Summer Camp will provide eight Fayette County students with hands-on training in live sound, lighting, and stage setup, culminating in a real concert production. The summer camp will also reveal potential career pathways in sound engineering, music, and radio.

Communities in Schools of Central Texas | Service Area: Caldwell and Hays Counties

Communities in Schools of Central Texas will support 400 high school and college students in Caldwell and Hays Counties through the Pathways to Post-Secondary Success initiative. This initiative will provide wraparound services, college and career planning, and workforce connections to help economically disadvantaged youth complete high school, earn credentials, and secure meaningful employment.

Skillpoint Alliance | Service Area: Bastrop, Caldwell, Guadalupe, Hays, Lee, and Williamson Counties

Skillpoint Alliance will provide free, evidence-based skilled trades, and manufacturing training to 100 low- to moderate-income individuals across six rural Central Texas counties. This training will help them gain industry certifications, secure employment, and increase their income by at least 30%.

American Youthworks | Service Area: Williamson County

American YouthWorks’ YouthBuild Taylor program provides opportunities to young adults in eastern Williamson County with free, integrated education and hands-on pre-apprenticeship training in high-demand sectors. These sectors include manufacturing, IT, and skilled trades. This program also offers wraparound support, certifications, and career pathways to improve social and economic mobility for 24 young adults.
